Community Association Governance
Incorporation
The St. Andrews Heights Community Association is registered as a society
under the Province of Alberta's Societies Act.
As a registered society our membership elects a Board of Directors
(a.k.a. Executive Committee) to govern the organization.
We are a member of the
Federation of Calgary Communities,
which provides various resources to assist with our governance.
Vision
St. Andrews Heights is a welcoming community where people are happy to live.
Mission Statement
The SAHCA mission is to foster community involvement and connection
through activities and engagement.
Values
- We value transparency, respect, inclusion, collaboration,
integrity, accountability in engagement with residents.
- We will foster inclusivity, encouraging participation, and supporting all age groups.
- We will advocate with integrity on behalf of the residents of the St. Andrews Heights.

About Our Community
- Our community has balanced demographics with various needs including young families, school
aged kids, students, adults, and seniors.
- The CA provides benefits to its members by providing advocacy with the City and the various
surrounding institutions, access to sports programs, access to other community events and
programs, and lower hall rental rates.
Business Plan
Immediate Goals
- Increase the CA presence in the community and build community identity to foster a sense of
belonging.
- Facilitate community members to organize and utilize community resources for groups and
engagement.
- Work to protect and steward the green spaces in our community.
- Continue using the hall & outdoor spaces for community activities.
- Strive for more active engagement with developers and builders to monitor and develop
strategies to promote responsible development that would represent the neighbourhood’s values
and needs, including providing timely and accurate information about residential development.
- Strengthen community development with help from the Community Connector.
- Create a community welcoming of diversity.
- Enhance the Toronto Crescent escarpment.
- Upgrade the tennis courts.
- Engage with Foothills Village residents and foster their participation in the community.
- Maintain a relationship with MMEC school and seek opportunities for collaboration.
Short-Term Goals
- Maintain a variety of Board members with different interests and experiences.
- Pursue community activity and engagement goals.
- Maintain transparency of CA activities through communication and open meetings.
Long-Term Goals
- Monitor and engage with community residents in crime prevention.
- Maintain a healthy board culture, one of more respectful attitudes, language and accountability.
Governance Documents
Finances
The St. Andrews Heights Community Association is entirely self-sustaining.
We receive no direct ongoing funds from any level of government.
Funding for our various operations comes via membership dues and business
operations such as hall rentals, sports fees, and advertising.
We often apply for and occasionally receive government grants for one-off projects.
