|| = || __ NEW HIRE
The Building Connected Communities project of the SAH board has hired another community connector (from City of Calgary funding, and our partnership with Carya) to complement the part-time hours of Olivia. We would like to welcome Justine Giles who will be supporting events and community building until the project ends in December.
We continue to hear from many residents that the additional activities in the community have strengthened our connections and sense of community. We also have seed funding for additional events and projects, so if you have ideas that you would like to work with them on please contact either Justine at justineg@caryacalgary.ca or Olivia at communityconnector@standrewsheights.ca.
Justine is a Calgary-based singer-songwriter and teaching artist whose work bridges music, arts education and community engagement. Alongside an active career as a performing and recording artist, she has developed and facilitated programs and workshops with numerous organizations. Passionate about accessible and inclusive experiences, her work includes youth mentorship, storytelling and creative empowerment. A core part of her practice is helping others discover a genuine sense of belonging and encouraging people to find their voice.
Her contributions to the Calgary community have been recognized through a 2026 nomination for The Calgary Awards in the Arts category, a feature in Exceptional Women of East Village (2026) and as a semi-finalist for the 2024 White Hat Awards’ Exceptional Rising Leader honour. In 2024, she was also named Solo Artist of the Year at the YYC Music Awards. As her music career continues to grow nationally, Justine remains intentionally rooted in Calgary and committed to giving back to the community that embraced and supported her as she built a new chapter of her life here.
