|| = || __ SEWER DISRUPTION
You likely received a notice in your mailbox about a sewer disruption. St Andrews Heights is one of the communities needing this work. For us, it will take place on Monday, June 1st.
The work is required because City Water Services is responsible for the maintenance of the main sewer lines. The lines can degrade over time - which means they now need repairs. Most of us agree, we don’t want issues with our sewer lines. We love summer time boating - but not down the street in our cars floating on sewage.
This work means you cannot allow water to enter the drain pipes between 7:30am to 4pm on Monday June 1st. In other words:
Do not flush the toilet
Do not take showers or baths
Do not wash clothes or dishes or children or pets (I know … ewwww)
Do not operate sump pumps
NOTE: You can put the plug in any sink to fill and use water, but do not drain it during this time.
There will also be minor traffic disruptions, parking restrictions and lane closures, which vary by property. These might include:
Restrictions to front street (avoid parking near no parking signs)
Restricted access to back alleys
No access to driveways - remove cars from garage and driveway by 7am
No access to back alleys - remove cars from garage and alley by 7am
Not all properties have the same restrictions. Check the letter left in your mailbox for the specifics (highlighted in yellow) related to your property.
The City asks you to plan your water usage around the construction times outlined above. Also keep toilet lids closed. There could be gurgling in water lines and toilets.
Don’t forget to make sure everyone in your household knows, including those noisy cats who say a litter box is not enough. And the apples that think they are entitled to run water in the sink whenever they feel like it. Fortunately, Apple computers are fairly good about these things.
