|| = || __ CITY UPDATE
The following message is shared by the City of Calgary:
Happy New Year! I wish to be reaching out to all of you with nicer news and requests.
As you are aware, a break on the Bearspaw South Feeder Main has affected The City’s water supply. With the feeder main out of service, we are relying on the smaller Glenmore Water Treatment Plant and a finite supply of water in the Glenmore Reservoir to meet demand for treated water. As a result, and until feeder main repairs are complete, Calgary remains under Stage 4 Water Restrictions.
On Jan. 4, our water use reached 510 ML which is 25 ML higher than what our treatment plants can provide each day while repairs are made to the Bearspaw Feeder Main. To manage water supply during this critical period, we need everyone to take simple but impactful steps to reduce indoor water use.
Tips for all businesses:
Fix leaking taps in kitchens, laundry rooms and washrooms, etc.
Identify areas / processes for increased water efficiency for daily operations.
Work with staff to identify ways to minimize water use and loss throughout their work duties.
In addition to the above business tips, here’s how you can help in your daily routine:
Flush toilets only when needed.
Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full.
Shorten showers to three minutes or less.
