|| = || __ JANE’S WALK
Jane’s Walk – St, Andrews Heights / Karl Baker Off-Leash Park - May 3/25
We gathered at the Community Hall on a beautiful sunny morning. Clarence Kort and Olivia Smith provided handouts and a review of the planned excursion.
A crowd of 24 (or so) walked down Hamilton Street and descended into the natural area below Toronto Crescent. Everyone followed a flagged route, which pinpointed floral highlights, and focused on the natural features of this dog-walkers’ park. We talked about the history of the Riley family and their homestead, in the late 1800’s, and about the St. Andrews Golf Club, more than 100 years ago.
We returned along Kingston Street, observing the changing housing styles, and new development. Allison, Mike and Olivia had prepared drinks and snacks, and we sat outdoors in the shade, enjoying each other’s company, and discussing future possibilities.
This outing was an excellent opportunity to reconnect with fellow residents, and to talk to old and new friends. A highlight for me (Clarence) was that some long-time residents shared their memories of the early conditions and development of St. Andrews Heights.
We hope that participants benefitted from their walk ‘Through Time and Space’, and that we continue to find opportunities to engage with each other.
Thanks,
Clarence Kort
