|| = || __ JANE’S WALK
Jane Jacobs (1916 - 2006) was an unbanist who saw cities as ecosystems. A Jane’s Walk brings people together through walking in their cities, to better understand the ecosystem which sustains them.
The St Andrews Heights Jane’s Walk is Saturday, May 3, at 10am.
We will start at the Hall, then go along Toronto Crescent before descending into the natural area, along trails. We will observe the flowers, trees and birds - and discuss the history of the area.
The focus is on understanding what lives here and why, how this area has been used over time and what changes may occur in the future. Another important question is: how are local communities connecting with this green space?
We will then climb back up into St. Andrew's Heights. We'll review some of the recent urban development, and other community features, before we visit Toboggan Hill — and finally return to the Hall.
The event is free (though, please signup below). The walk should last 60-90 minutes. It will be lead by Clarence Kort, community and association board member, botanist, birder, runner and community enthusiast. Join and enjoy!
