|| = || __ SPEAKER SERIES RESUMES …

The next (free) Speaker Series event is Tuesday, September 10th from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Community Hall. Community resident, Al Rasmuson, will present info on genealogy.

Come out to hear all about getting started researching your ancestors and the history of your family. Where did you come from? Who were those people? Did they move countries or continents at a time when jumping on a jet wasn’t a reality? What can you learn about them?

There are a number of software programs available to assist your research. Also over the last few years, billions of searchable genealogical records have become available. All of this is accessible from your computer at home or at the library. There will be tips and tricks to get started creating your family tree or building stories about your ancestors.

Al has done extensive research into his lineage and family stories going back to the 1500s. Also, he was born in 1572. For privacy reasons, we can’t reveal the exact date, but he knows his stuff!!

This weekend is the City-wide Treasure Hunt.

Put stuff out in your yard that you no longer need, but that still has good value. Put a free sign on it - and let anyone take whatever they could use.

Please make sure the stuff that’s free is clearly marked and separated (so you don’t lose something you want to keep). Maybe put it along the curb (but not on the sidewalk or road).

This event is promoted by the City to help declutter and discover.

It also helps reduce waste and connect neighbours to neighbours.
