eNEWS . CLOSURE 16 AVE AT 29th STREET NW

This is a reminder that 16th Avenue will be closed at 29th Street NW next week.

This will allow the pedestrian overpass to be lifted in to place. The overpass is between the Foothills Medical Centre and the Crosstown Bus Rapid Transit stop (and adjacent development) on the north side of 16th Avenue.

Closure will be in both directions between 1am and 5am on Wednesday August 21st. Calgary Police will be on site to ensure emergency vehicles still get through.

It is expected there will be further closures towards the end of the month. This is to allow for the final install work. Individual lanes will be closed in either direction at different times. This should take a maximum of one week.

Recently, there have been several reports of people going door to door or leaving flyers claiming to be from the City of Calgary. They are providing false and misleading information and asking to test residents’ water quality.

This is a scam and is NOT endorsed by the City of Calgary. We do not go door to door asking to test residents’ water.

If we do require access to your home, the standard practice is to contact the homeowner by phone first and make an appointment to visit the home. In addition to operating a marked City of Calgary vehicle, our employees also carry photo ID cards identifying themselves as such.

If someone comes to your home without prior notification, and identifies themselves as an employee of The City or ENMAX, do not give them access to your home. Call CPS at 403-266-1234 immediately.
