Do you have children ages 9 – 18? Do they like baking? This BRAND NEW 6-Week Intro to 4-H Baking Club in NW Calgary is perfect for families with multiple children. No more running in different directions because kids of multiple ages attend together.

Join us for a hands-on baking experience where you'll indulge your taste buds and discover new friendships as sweet as our creations at the Hope Lutheran Church in January.

Through baking and bonding, you'll not only learn valuable life skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication but also get a taste of what 4-H has to offer. Great for busy families who want to try something new without committing to a year-long program.

For youth: ages 9 - 18 years old

Fee: $120

Registration open until Jan. 5th

Registration: https://www.4hab.com/member-programs

If anyone has questions, they can email Lori Nielsen at introclubs@4hab.com

|| = || __ OH CHRISTMAS TREE, OHHH — WOOF! __

One of our neighbours (who says he feels very Grinchy mentioning this) says:

My wife and I noticed today that as in previous years some Christmas decorations have appeared in the forested area of Karl Baker offleash dog park. I admire the festive spirit and effort. The little wooden reindeer are adorable.

Unfortunately there are a great number of glass ball ornaments, and this year candy canes, in the trees. Given this is an offleash dog park its very likely dogs will mistake the fragile glass balls for their own fetch balls, and end up with some expensive vet bills. Our pup mistook one in a previous year and brought it to us. Luckily only one tooth punctured the ball and it didn't break into many shards in his mouth. Every year I've seen about half of the ornaments end up crushed on the forest floor, whether the wind blew them off or birds etc.

I can't imagine most parents would want their children eating candy off a bush in the forest, so I'm not quite sure what the candy canes are intended for, but I also imagine that will attract more wild life than festive good wishes.

We are walking a very fine line between decoration and littering, its pretty inevitable that at least some of the decorations will break or become unrecoverable by January.

Our Grinchy neighbour has a big heart - and hopes we will all reconsider our decorating, especially in public spaces. We think we love the Grinch!

If you are not already on our email list (or Facebook page), please join and encourage neighbours to join as well. It's an easy way to stay up-to-date with all that's going on in and around the 'hood.
