|| = || _ PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Hello St Andrews Heights!
I hope the summer has been everything for you. We’ve had great weather (albeit, a little smokey… AND a little hot), but overall not too bad. I managed to enjoy the Stampede for two days and then got out of the country!! By the way, if you're thinking it's been too hot, just keep in mind what the weather is going to be like in a few months!
Our first meeting with the new board is coming up soon. Besides the usual discussions about community concerns (residential and commercial development, parking, planning upcoming events, keeping an eye on our cash, tennis courts, etc), we will also be providing update on our active involvement with working groups related to the Foothill Medical Centre – Area Communities Working Group (FMC-ACWG) , the South Shaganappi Area Strategic Planning Group (SSASPG) and other collaborative groups where our community could be affected. By the way, all our meeting minutes are posted on our website a few weeks after the board meetings. This is a great way to get more information about what we’re doing with and for the community.
We will also be kicking off an initiative that our new Member-at-Large, Allison Macdonald** has come up with. The idea is a resource pool where she puts together a list of community residents who want to do something for the community but don’t necessarily have a specific thing they feel they could add value to. The thought is that when a community event is being put together (regardless of it is CA led or a community member leading it), we could utilize Allison’s list to get the help needed to pull it off. No one necessarily needs to have any previous experience in the type of event, but rather just be there to help based on the requirements of whoever is leading the event. I love Allison’s idea because I think there are a lot of people that would like to meet other community members or at least be a part of a community effort but fear they don’t have the background to help out. We’ll most likely piggy-back a community member sign up sheet with our CA Membership drive in September.
And one last thing – I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but our Facebook page has been hacked and we’re working hard to get it back. Don't forget we're also on X (formerly Twitter).
That’s it for now. We’ll send another update after the meeting or when the Facebook page is up and running again – which ever comes first
** By the way, in our first note after the AGM, I had erred when I named our new Member-at-Large. I should have called her Allison Macdonald – my apologies, Allison!
