One of our neighbours caught this guy on camera going down the back alley and checking over their fence. While we can't say what his motives were, we also don't know that his actions were innocent - or whether he entered any yards.

Constable Reinders (our Community Liaison Officer with the Calgary Police Service) did not see this video. She has, however, the following general advice for protecting your property:
At 9 PM, or before you go to bed, make it a routine to check the following:
- Remove all valuables from your vehicles. Wallets, sunglasses and tablets are often left in the vehicle, because we walk in with groceries, dry cleaning, while on the phone or dealing with kids. Please take a moment to check car doors and take all valuables out.
- Close the overhead garage door. If you leave on holidays, please disconnect the garage door opener from the power outlet.
- Lock all doors and don’t forget the main door to the garage, the shed and the cars.
- Close all windows, especially if you opened windows to air the house. Don’t forget about basements.
- Turn on an exterior light, or install flood lights or sensors.
- If you go on vacation, please install timers on two lights in your living room, giving the appearance as if you were home. Ask the neighbours to check every few days for possible signs of break and enter.
